Automotive Technician – Electrical

Job Purpose

The Automotive Technician – Electrical plays a central role in ensuring that all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) remains safe, reliable, and fully operational. The purpose of this position is to carry out expert preventive and corrective maintenance on electrically powered and electronically controlled GSE, diagnose faults using specialised tools, and restore equipment to optimal working condition in line with company safety and quality standards. This role directly supports operational continuity by reducing equipment downtime, improving safety performance, and maintaining full traceability of all maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on all types of GSE.
  • Perform corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, electronic, ELV, and low-voltage systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment correctly, ensuring accurate fault identification and safe repair practices.
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets internal safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Complete job cards, maintenance reports, and any required documentation to maintain full traceability of work performed.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace, including proper handling and disposal of waste materials.
  • Follow all company policies related to safety, security, data protection, and quality assurance.
  • Support the team leader and workshop management by carrying out additional duties as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, other departments, and external suppliers to support smooth operations.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, Maltese, or both.

  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing electrical and electronic faults.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in automotive, industrial, or heavy-vehicle maintenance

  • Knowledge of industrial vehicles, heavy vehicles, or automotive systems

  • MCAST qualification or equivalent technical certification is considered an advantage

  • Experience with electric vehicles, electronics, ELV systems, and low-voltage mains is considered an asset
