Job Purpose
The Ramp Trainer is responsible for delivering, coordinating, and monitoring training programs for ramp and
turnaround coordination staff. This role ensures all ramp personnel are competent, compliant, and up to date with
IATA AHM (Airport Handling Manual), ICAO regulations, and airline-specific policies and procedures, while
maintaining accurate training records and materials.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver Turnaround Coordinator training to new and existing ramp staff, covering procedures, safety standards,
and operational requirements.
• Conduct competency checks and practical assessments for new hires and existing staff to verify operational
readiness and compliance.
• Monitor training and certification expiry dates for all ramp personnel and proactively coordinate refresher
training to maintain compliance.
• Create, update, and maintain training materials, manuals, and assessment tools in line with current regulatory
and airline standards.
• Ensure all training content aligns with IATA AHM Standard Operating Procedures, ICAO regulations, and
applicable airline policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and organized training records, attendance logs, and competency assessment results.
• Identify training gaps or recurring performance issues and recommend corrective training actions.
• Support onboarding of new ramp employees through structured induction and practical training programs.
• Liaise with Ground Operations, Safety, and Quality departments to ensure training content reflects current
operational and safety requirements.
• Conduct classroom, on-the-job, and refresher training sessions using effective adult-learning and training
delivery techniques.
• Ensure all training activities and documentation meet audit and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum of 1 year experience working within airport operations.
• Solid working knowledge of:
1. IATA AHM (Airport Handling Manual) Standard Operating Procedures
2. IATA IGOM (IATA Ground Operations Manual)
3. ICAO regulations and standards
4. Airline-specific policies and procedures
5. Training delivery methods and techniques
• Prior experience in ramp/turnaround coordination operations preferred.
• Experience developing or updating training materials and assessment tools is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
• Based at airport ramp/operations area with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• May require flexible working hours, including occasional weekends, and public holidays, based on operational
needs.
• Physical presence on the ramp required for practical training and assessments.
Strong training delivery and presentation skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, particularly for tracking certification/training expiry dates
Ability to assess competency objectively and provide constructive feedback
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) for training material and record- keeping
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced airport/ramp environment
Strong knowledge of ground handling safety standards and best practices
One year experience working within airport operations
